SCARF Quarterly Blog Update

All:

It’s hard to believe that it’s the last month of the year of 2009. It seems like just yesterday that SCARF participating in the Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival. This year has been a challenging year for the SCARF Board members. While we’ve had our monthly meetings, we’ve reviewed in several meetings what the best course of focus is for SCARF for the future. We continue to have inquiries to the site in regards to medical resources and assistance in gaining support for individual cases on melanoma, so we know we’re assisting patients across the country.

We’ve agreed that we need to focus on our Website, keeping it as accurate as possible, with timely updates for frequent viewers to use as an active resources. In addition, we want to focus on a select few fundraisers that 1) provide our mission of education and 2) support the community in awareness of melanoma. With these initiatives in mind, we’ll be looking for additional volunteers to join SCARF and play an active role for our cause!

In 2010, we will be participating in our third consecutive year in the Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival, and planning a Annual Golf Tournament as our annual fundraiser. If you or others you know may be interested in participating but aren’t quite sure how to help, please give me a call to discuss further.

We hope everyone who has visited the site has found it useful, and welcome your thoughts and comments via the website of directly to myself!

God Bless you all.

Spring Update 2009

It’s the beginning of Spring 2009 and the SCARF organization is looking to once again participate in this year’s Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival.   This year’s event will take place the weekend of June 6-7th.  We hope to replicate our success last year and use this event as a community out-reach campaign to let people know about SCARF and the many ways our Website can be used to assist people in need.

-          Early detection

-          Current treatment options

-          How to reduce the occurrence of Melanoma

-          What’s new and where you can learn about SCARF

We’re looking for people that can assist us with some additional Fund Raiser this year. If you know of anyone that has participated and/or help organize a Golf Tournament, SCARF is looking to build an Annual Golf Tourney locally here in the SF Bay Area.

2009 marks our second full year of being a 501 (3)( c) and we are very exciting about our continued support from so many volunteers in the local community.   For more information about SCARF or how to play a part in our organization, please e-mail me or visit us at www.scarfusa.org.
